Almost a year later since ordering Rocalabs formula…

Hi Everyone!

It has been close to a year since I first discovered Rocalabs and their formula that acts like gastric bipass surgery.  What a trip it has been!  I willl try not to repeat myself from all the other posts I have written.

First off, THANK YOU for your support and comments along the way.  I had to deal with lawyers and at times the stress was difficult.  At this time, I have tried the diet four different times and I have had little success.  I have 60 pounds to lose, more then a year ago, and so discouraging it is.  I am not sure if another try is in my future.  I will not throw out what is left, or sell it, because I am not a quitter.  Maybe the formula might work along with another diet that I find.  Not sure.

I would like this post to be reserved for people who have been on Rocalabs OVER THREE MONTHS.  Since this has been available in the states now for about a year, I want this group of comments to be for those who have had the expereince with this diet for longer then just a week or 2.  Please feel free to post any beginning comments on any other post.  I usually write back to everyone or respond on this site.  I have no problem talking over the phone with anyone who would like that kind of communication.

My best to everyone fighting the weight loss fight!

About Kathy

Hello Everyone! I am 47 years old and I live in West Hartford, Connecticut. I was married for 7 years back in '95. Unfortunately, my husband, Will, died of cancer in '02. I do not have children. Like most of you, I have been battling weight issues since childhood. I am definitely a fan of WW and Jenny Craig. My thoughts as I begin this site is whether this "diet" by Roca Labs can help get over the speed bumps that sometimes feel more like those big square curbs or even several large boulders....

I don’t understand. I know many who are using the formula and happy with the results as well as the company’s dealing with them.. So I’m kind of confuse to others what have to say (negatively).

      Dear Kathy -a0
I’ve been reading your blog. a0I apalupd your attempts to allow an open forum on this very private and difficult subject. a0I, too, have been so very, very tempted by the RL Formula, or as one of your fellow bloggers called it; The Holy Grail of Weight Loss – Wouldn’t it be nice? a0 Well, in analyzing your blog – by itself a0- the common thread is that we all just want to believe that this will finally fix us – a0regardless of the evidence, or in this case – the LACK of evidence. This is the reason that companies like RLabs exist! Another pertinent question would be: a0Why do you think they are working so hard to control us (cite: the email threats to sue anyone who even suggests a negative point of view and a0gag orders as a condition of sale AND the fact that their tactics are working as none of us can find objective information regarding the product!!!!)? – Is this in and of itself, not enough to raise a red flag or two? a0It’s all about riding the “Cash-Cow” by taking advantage of desperate people who are looking for that “Magic Bullet.” a0 Honestly, and sadly for those of us who are desperate, there isn’t one. a0
The even more serious issue here is that Roca Labs require us to surrender our 1st amendment rights as a term of agreement!!???? a0Does no one see a problem with that? a0Who are these people, the Gestapo? a0Personally, I don’t care how much the product costs in dollars – but surrendering my Constitutional Rights is too high a price. a0Once that starts, where does it stop? When people finally figure out the truth – Roca Labs will have ridden away, laughing into the sunset, with billions of dollars stuffed in their pockets and our constitution left in ashes behind them.a0 The really insidious part of this farce is that they can get away with it because they are a private corporation – not our government. a0All they need do is point to the terms and conditions of sale and say, “Hey, look, THEY clicked on the tiny box at the bottom which means they agreed to it, fully informed – therefore, it’s not our problem.” a0 – – Classic example of being legal and yet, not ethical.
On to the investigation. a0 Becausea0I couldn’t find info about the product itself, I went after the ingredients. a0I found this on guar gum, which is one of the active components of this RLab therapy. a0It was retrieved from the doctor’s reference database on the web – (a very reliable source – but again, not my information and not an endorsement – just information). Also, a0this information is not intended for substantiation for or against any particular company, a0it is simply already known information about particular substances that I freely share to help those who may wish to make an informed choice. a0I noticed one of your bloggers is a General Practitioner. a0Maybe you could ask her to use her resources to do the same. Or better yet, maybe some of you who have questions could do as I did and investigate the ingredients. Anyway, this is what the site I found had to offer. Good luck to all of you in the search for the Holy Grail – I’m not convinced that this is it. DIETARY SUPPLEMENTS: Over-the-counter dietary supplements are widely used by individuals attempting to lose weight, but evidence to support their efficacy and safety are limited. Examples of dietary supplements include ephedra (described above, no longer available), green tea, chromium, chitosan, and guar gum.
Guar gum preparations derived from the Indian cluster bean have been promoted as weight reduction agents. The presumed mechanism of action is an increase in the viscosity of gastric contents, leading to a feeling of postprandial fullness. However, in a meta-analysis of 20 clinical trials, guar gum was not effective for weight loss and caused adverse events such as abdominal pain, flatulence, and diarrhea.
Conclusions from a 2004 review of available dietary supplements were as follows:
Chitosan and guar gum are ineffective for weight loss, and their use should be discouraged.
Evidence and safety data are unclear for chromium, ginseng, glucomannan, green tea, hydroxycitric acid, L-carnitine, psyllium, pyruvate supplements, St. John’s wort, and conjugated linoleic acid.a0

    hi Kathy,
have been following your comments for awhile and decided to try it anyway. to me, it seems like the best way to fight hunger pains throughout the day. have lost 10 in 3 weeks.

  3. Emely says:

Hi am happy to find this site for rocalabs user. I am not using the formula but my husband is. He just started the program a month ago and works pretty good. From 315Lbs, he’s now at 297Lbs. We hope that he will be able to keep his weight when he reach his goal because that was usually he problem. When he loses weight, it just keep on coming back. So I wanted to know if there’s someone here took the formula, loses weight and didn’t gain it back.

    • Dennis says:

I just started this stuff 3 days ago the first day sort of sckeud because I tried it as a liquid and straight up (no flavoring) and I swear I had to fight off the gag reflex all the time I was choking it down words like disgusting and gross just don’t express how bad it is. Day 2 I mixed it strong with cranberry juice. I measured the liquid to about a half inch below the level line on the shaker and added a full purple scoop (the largest one) and about one quarter more it got really thick for me, the thicker it is, the less disgusting it is and the cranberry juice transformed it into a slightly sweet treat! yes, a treat I actually like it now and I’m not associated with the company or paid to write good things about it. I find the water intake hard to keep up because I’m peeing every 15 to 20 minutes I contacted Roca and they assure me this is a transitional thing and my body will adjust I’m also a chocoholic and crave it I was crawling the walls first day and every day since, but I swear, after I mix up some of that anti-craving stuff I’m good for the day actually last night I mixed up a small glass of anti-craving powder but it sure wipes them out! I’m really impressed with it a little more so than the formula the formula does create a fuller feeling, but I wish it was just a little more potent perhaps I’ll try mixing a bigger dose, but then it won’t last as long hmmm what to do because I think it is over priced, but at the same time I also think it’s a decent product just a bit overpriced because I won’t be doing a video and therefore, no refund! My weight and my weight loss is just a personal and private issue for me I don’t want anyone to see me before’. So I highly recommend cranberry juice, which normally I don’t like, but it tastes different when it’s mixed with the frog slime-like, tasteless sludge very nice! As for legal issues noted in these blogs I wonder if their legal threats and such stand up if they impinge on civil rights to freedom of speech? Can a company create policies that conflict and in in essence rewrite civil rights enshrined in your constitution? (I’m from Canada and they are in conflict with our Charter of Rights and Freedoms too) If so, what if a friend bought it for me as a gift and I wasn’t the one who agreed not to speak against the company? Could I not speak against them legally if I was gifted the product? Just some theoretical thoughts and question to ponder because so far, I’m okay with this product it could be a little stronger/potent still, but otherwise I think it’s a decent, albeit a tad overpriced, product. Nice blog and good luck to everyone!

  4. Jane Barrs says:

Oh well this confused me more. Does this product works or no? A lot says it does and some says no…so what do we need for it to work? Anybody has the idea? By the regarding, negative comments, I guess it is uncalled for. Nobody forces us to try it…if it doesn’t work then it doesn’t work. Maybe it works for other people and not for us. If it does then it’s good to share the good things. But telling people not to try it just because it doesn’t work for us, I don’t think it’s fair enough. Well, just my thought. My friend used it for 2 weeks now and never lose a pound is still determined to continue.

  5. Laurie says:

    Hi Kathy,
Thank you for posting your experience. I’m curious to know if anyone has tried to make the formula from the recipe that Chef O (Chef Olivia Barker) has published in her book titled “Recipe for Mini Gastric Bypass Supplement Without Surgery”. Spending $9.99 for a book and under $100 for the ingredients seems like a better deal.

    • Tonya says:

I tried Roca (or well, I have a few times), and for me, it seems to work for about two weeks and then . . . nothing. So I’ve started using it for a couple of weeks and then taking a month or so off . . . and then starting it up again. I’ve combined it (this last cycle) with actually putting concentrated effort in, and I’ve lost 21 pounds in a month (two weeks of Roca, two without). I tried to find the recipe from Chef Olivia Barker, but it seems like it’s disappeared from everywhere it once sold. Maybe Roca got to her?? If anybody knows where I could buy it, though, I’d be willing to give it a shot.

    • Tami says:

Hi Laurie, have you actually found this book? I’ve been searching and have not been able to find it. I’d like to try making the formula myself. Thanks for any assistance. Tami

      • Laurie says:

The book by Chef O has been removed, however there is another book you may want to consider. It’s called Recipe for Xanthan Guar Gum Diet by Jada Sachs. Good Luck!

        • Lene says:

Well, Laurie, I purchased both booklets, the first one by Chef O before it was pulled, and the second one by Jada Sachs. I am older and overweight because I take antidepressants, which many times cause insatiable hunger. When once I was thin, I am now at least seventy pounds overweight. Purchased the ingredients, and this is my second day taking the formula. I love to drink a lot of water but this requires a LOT of water. Getting waterlogged here. Anyways, I am full. I don’t feel hungry at all. I HAVE to start exercising for this to work. But I have a lot of weight to lose, and hope this alternative works. Sorry OP for being off topic if I am………

  6. cleo says:

The Formula worked for me. It had been more than three months since I’ve purchased on line last March. I’m down 30 lbs from my previous weight of 180 lbs. I didn’t encounter any problems with my purchase and I found their services quite helpful. Roca Labs really helped me in losing weight. It had helped me control my appetite and for that I am grateful. It might cost a lot but it was worth the investment.

  7. Lene says:

Tami, there is a booklet on Kindle called the Xanathan Guar Gum Diet. Gives you the recipe for to make something similar to Roca Labs. Roca adds dextrose, maltose, etc that this recipe does not. This is more natural.

    Hello Kathy,
Thank you for keeping us updated. Been reading some of the post here and out some are bad but I decided to try it just waiting for my package. So just wish me like I want to lose this weight like others loss while taking the formula.

  10. Debron J says:

I’m still doing well, even though I do not use the formula anymore. I heard that they have a two month sample for sale, so before everyone jumps on buying the entire kit, I would recommend getting the sample to see if your body can handle it.
I’m not sure on the price of it, but it’s worth checking out

  11. lani says:

Debron, how much did you lose and can you tell me how you mixed the formula. if you dont mind.. thanks

  12. ElenaRN says:

    Hello everyone!

I’m Elena fro California. I have heard about this product for quite sometime now and one of my cousin is using this product too. I am interested on purchasing this but I am a bit skeptical after reading this blog. I am doing my research and watching their videos which are really impressive. What benefit will I get from this product? I can see there are lot of users who give comments in this blog. Thanks!

  13. chengsta says:

Wow, don’t you guys know anything about law? I figured that at this price, only lawyers would be able to afford this formula. Go figure.

Anyway, this looks like a great opportunity for me to loose a bit of weight, AND get a million bucks! I could threaten them with a civil suit citing that their contract is illegal and unconstitutional. Then they’d pay ME to shut up! They’re threatening to sue me for negative feedback? Oh please sue me! Many companies have been successfully sued for less than what these guys are doing.

    • Kathy says:

      Hi Chengsta,
I was wondering how this all worked out for you? any success? would love to hear from you….

  14. Necia says:

I haven’t received my order yet, but even with all the comments I feel thaat this is my last chance. Like Kathy I have tried every thing and I mean everything except the surgery and am still 200lbs If this gunk, goo,? doesn’t work for me, cutting my throat is the next option. I figure that cutting my throat will prevent me from eating at least long enough to lost a few pounds. With all the years of dieting I think my metabolism is on permament shut down mode. I’m a fat old lady and not very savy with the computer, so if I can find my way back to this site I will keep you updated as to my success or sucide.

    • Kathy says:

oh……….necia….. please please please talk to a professional that has experience in weight issues. Since so many in our country are struggling with their weight, there are so many helpers out there for this issue. I obviously feel your pain in your post and I want you to get some relief asap. I am scared that you are putting your “last ditch” effort into this product. Through the months and now over a year….. I just don’t read from this post that there are long term good results from this formula. Yes. I do read often about losses in the first month or two, but then when I try to touch base with those people, they are not doing well four or five months later and sometimes have gained bace the weight……….PLUS SOME.
What a horrible condition we all deal with. It is on our mind 24/7 and I think one of the hardest things is when friends and family comment about our weight in a way that seems to imply that we don’t know we are fat and we need to be “told” so then we would do something. I HATE that. Don’t these well meaning people know it is on our minds EVERYDAY, especially when we are eating a sandwhich or having a piece of pizza or a cookie???????

Please write to me personally at so we can be in better contact. Even though I don’t know you….. you can vent to me as much as you want and maybe there is a chance you will take suicide off the table. I personally did have one attempt 5 or 6 years ago. The issue wasn’t about weight, but about losing my husband to cancer at 36.

If you get anything out of this email please remember that suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. I know there are brighter skies ahead for you and I want you to be around to experince them.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, Necia. If anyone has any other things to add to this woman’s pain, you are welcome to share thoughts here….

I hope and pray sooooooooooooooo much you are still with us and have not been taken by the “man upstairs”. Here is hoping and praying that you answer this post to tell us all you are doig better then you were 8/26/2012………….

When I first got my package I opened up the tin can that the power was put in and noticed there was a small bag of the powder…I was like if I paid over 400 bucks I want a full can!

I tried it w/o any mixes and it was gawd awful. That youtube lady tasting that crap was all an act even with flavored crystals. Seriously I’ve been on this for a while after the first month I can harldy hold the crap down. I tried rasberry crystals, strawberry, fruit punch, orange, and lime.

But I stuck with this for two months and found out that the lime flavor is the best with the magic powder but it’s still it’s hard to hold down.

I still got hungry after drinking all day the only way this crap works is drink it everytime you’re hungry because it will make you sick enough to not eat.

I did loose weight, but I’m not going to advertise for this comapny, but i’m still fat!

I have a strong stomach but this stuff is like eating baby barf with crystal lite and baby barf is cheaper.
